Activities to Increase Productivity
How to Increase Productivity…
You’ve told yourself you were going to be more productive this year. It got put on hold for January, which then turned to, February, each week you promise yourself a fresh start, which has eventually led you to today!
The issue is you don’t know where to start and every time you’ve tried to have enhanced productivity, it ends catastrophically.
Nothing works and nothing changes, why would it? You can’t even sustain the activity long enough to see any lasting benefits or results – fear not – I got you.
Discover 5 actionable ways to boost productivity and overcome common challenges that hinder lasting results:
1. Lists and prioritise.
Creating a to do list 📝and prioritising tasks❗️
You know that lingering urgent task? You do realise it would be far more effective to tackle it first thing in the morning when your concentration is at its peak🏔️. By dedicating focused time blocking 🚫 any and all distractions and allowing yourself to truly concentrate. you’ll likely complete the task far more efficiently than at any other time of the day.
Which leads me nicely on to…
2.Time ⏰blocking 🚫
Allocate specific durations ⏰ to tasks and block🚫 them out in your calendar for increased productivity.
Now some people jot down there tasks on some paper and make a note that they’re doing tasks 1/2/3 at set times which is obviously more effective than having no list at all but it’s not the most effective way. You should leverage your calendar for a far more effective approach (of course you’ll need to form a habit of checking your calendar regularly in order for this to work) blocking out your time to complete the tasks you need to. Set yourself alerts or reminder for when a new task is due to start. It’s a good way to ensure you don’t spend longer than your designated time on a particular activity, training yourself to stay within the time limits and restrictions you set for yourself will allow you to make progress with each activity you have prioritised. I won’t lie, I am still working on this one myself but it’s definitely a powerful habit worth cultivating.
3. Establish achievable goals 🥅
Break down your goal into manageable achievable tasks!
Avoid overwhelming to do lists 📝which hinder productivity. Setting intense lists as long as your arm that you don’t have the diary 📔 space for, is a sure way to prevent you from developing the habit of sustaining productivity. I mean why would you continually set yourself lists, which you can’t complete. Make sure your goals and lists of activity are realistic and attainable for you to complete in the amount of time you have available to you.
4. Regular breaks 🔔
Ensure you’re taking regular breaks for sustained wellbeing
Avoid the common pitfall of pushing yourself to the limit without breaks – of course ignoring breaks seems productive. You may think, it’s fine I don’t need a break – i am in my zone, let me crack on until I finish. The problem is the more you continue this way of working, the more you develop, maintain and sustain this habit. The more likely and quicker you are to get burn out or suffer from a blockage in your creativity and productivity. We all know one person that kept going and going until they crashed.
Do not let this be you.
Take the time to go for a walk or have a meal to recharge.
5. Emphasise Communication 💭
While it may seem obvious, vocalising your feelings, whether overwhelmed, overworked, or stressed, is crucial. Don’t hesitate to share updates on project delays or urgent matters. Engage in difficult conversations to build healthy relationships and collaboratively find productive solutions. Communication not only relieves frustration but also fosters a collective effort to move forward effectively.
There are far more productivity strategies which hopefully I’ll get to share at a later date. Following my own advice, the time allotted for writing this entry is concluding. I must crack onto another task.
Until next time – Take care!
