Balancing Priorities
The Elusive Quest For Time
Have you ever felt overwhelmed, like you’ve taken on more than you can handle? Striving for success in every area of your life, but falling short- missed deadlines for job application hover over you but you’re still otherwise engaged with the ten other major tasks you’d set for yourself?
This has been my reality for the past week, feeling submerged 🌊. I’ve been grappling to find a lifeline, and the singular solution is time 🕰️—yet, it’s the one resource I’m running out of.
The Unexpected: The Importance of an Emergency Plan.
Each year, I set ambitious goals 🎯 all equally important (in my personal opinion). All with the possibility to be life changing.
January arrives and am juggling 🤹♀️ – damn well, if I do say so myself. Then burnout starts creeping, sooner than usual this year, a ‘headache🤕.’ I power through and then boom💥 my son contracts chicken pox 🤒. Derailing my weekend plans in an instant, just like that.
Despite claiming to be organised (it is one of my strong points),I lacked a contingency plan. I mean it’s January for crying out loud – and January completely blindsided me, I hadn’t prepared for such an early setbacks 🏈.
Take a cue from my experience: If your goals are extremely important to you, they deserve an “In Case of Emergency” (ICE) plan.
It’s a Balancing act
From this day forth, I am committed to proactive goal management. This upcoming weekend, I’ll dedicate significant time to:
1. Crafting not one but two blog entries.
2. Scheduling Pinterest pins for the entire week.
3. Generating daily quotes for a three-month span.
4. Planning monthly challenges, ensuring a two-month lead time.
These efforts focus solely on my blogging pursuits, there’s still a heck of a lot of work to be done in my personal life.
The unknown
You might be thriving at your peak or grappling with chaos – much like myself. In truth, we can prepare for certain scenarios, however not every circumstance is foreseeable. Some situations are beyond our wildest dreams or nightmares. We can only plan for the imaginable.
