Overwhelmed:
Navigating Life’s
Chaos
The more things life forces onto you, the more you absorb and consequently the more overwhelming it can become.
Work,
Home,
Fitness…
The list is forever expanding and is often mentally exhausting, is it even possible to keep a note of everything.
Write it down 🖊️
Everyone tells you to write down the action – somewhere…
However the only way to remember to do this is to write it down as soon as the task is given, but realistically where do you honestly find the time 🕰️.
The unfortunate reality is, you have to make it imperative to make a real note, to pour the information immediately from your brain to the page.
You need to develop the soft skills needed to allow you to openly speak up when or if it’s not a convenient time for you to be given an action.
For example, if you’re driving you need to let the caller know, ‘hey if you want me to do that you’ll need to call me back at a more convenient time when am free to take a note detailing what you need me to do📝 or send me the action via message outlining the information I’ll need to get this action done.’ It can be challenging, depending on the type of person you are. Most people by nature want to be available to help and assist at all times but if you aren’t taking a note and I mean really taking one ☝️, chances are you aren’t going to deliver whatever it is you’re committing and promising to do, which in turn means you aren’t being that helpful.
Non – Believers: I don’t need to take a note my brain remembers detail.
Well, if it does, it shouldn’t.
There is no need to be remembering that kind of detail surely you have far more important things to remember?
The amount of times I have found myself saying it’s fine I won’t write that down just yet I’ll remember to do it later and I just end up forgetting and then spending far to long trying to remember what I’ve forgotten. How about if we removed later and allowed ourselves the opportunity to make the note 🗒️- now!
We say later because we’re just too busy to stop what we are currently doing to take a note of the brain wave we are having when the reality is that’s exactly when we should be capturing those free flowing ideas 💡, tasks and goals because clearly whatever we are in the midst of doing is acting as creative trigger allowing us to create and have these thought provoking and insightful 💭 thoughts. Capture them as you have them and watch what else it allows your brain the capacity to think about in detail.
In conclusion, it’s up to you how you function and whether you allow yourself the space and opportunity to try something different to see if you get more from yourself. Habits aren’t easy to create and for something like capturing mental thoughts and actions as you have them it requires a huge shift in your behaviour, let me know how you get on and whether you’re going to give it a go.
